It is with great regret that we announce the resignation of Lyle F. Baie as executive director of AAPG. His resignation was effective June 30 but he has agreed to stay on as interim director until his replacement is in place.

Lyle has decided to return to his first loves of exploration, consulting related to innovative programs for the professional associations, and teaching.

During Lyle's tenure, AAPG has enjoyed many significant achievements. His legacy includes the addition of the Customer Service Center, the improvement of the staff pension program, AAPG's widely praised rapid response to the industry downturn and the move toward intersociety cooperation. Lyle also is well known for his leadership in the creation and management of the Mid-Career Technology and Training Centers, which have become an important part of AAPG's contribution to industry, and adding a career partnering aspect to the AAPG membership benefits.

All of us will miss Lyle's energy, enthusiasm and dedication to the ideals of AAPG. We all wish him well and happy hunting.

The Executive Committee has begun a search for Lyle's replacement, which we hope to complete by late summer.
