Six years ago AAPG became the first geologic organization to put its articles onto the Internet for downloading by members and others. The articles were all in an early Acrobat PDF format and most of the activity was by AAPG members outside of North America.
Today, AAPG/Datapages offers members current and archival information in a variety of formats. Our complete archive is digital (no other geological organization can make that claim), and members can access all or part of it via several methods.
These pages represent the past, present and future of AAPG.

♦ Preview of upcoming BULLETINs -- We post titles, authors and a brief synopsis of articles scheduled for publication in the Bulletin, several months in advance.
♦ Current BULLETINs, EXPLORERs and meeting abstracts -- Articles available for reading (in HTML format) and/or downloading (in PDF format).

Current BULLETIN search. Members can read or download the current three months of BULLETINs and EXPLORERs for free. A password is required; members have online self-registration.

Member Plus option search. Members who pay an additional annual subscription fee can access the entire BULLETIN archive (1917-current) from the same search-and-retrieval screen. Full article text is provided (members only, at $99).

Current BULLETIN and EXPLORER PDF downloads. For members who do not want to engage in the search-and-retrieval (but who come looking for a specific recent article), we provide a direct download page of PDF-format articles using a menu-selection system.

WINDS Mall. AAPG/Datapages provides its entire database of articles from the AAPG BULLETIN, AAPG special publications, SEPM Journal of Sedimentary Research, GCAGS Transactions and (this summer) Journal of Petroleum Geology (from Scientific Press). This page (www.petris.com/windsmall/ index.shtml) offers free searching, but the user must pay $8 for each article opened or downloaded.
♦ Library pricing -- This page outlines special pricing offered to university libraries, for subscription access to AAPG, SEPM (JSR) and GCAGS articles. Non-university libraries are considered for corporate pricing. Contact AAPG/Datapages for quotation.
♦ Sales/product descriptions -- PDF downloads of all major product groups available for purchase. This is where we try to provide detail prior to purchase -- but feel free to contact AAPG/Datapages at any time.
♦ AAPG Membership Directory -- A duplicate access to the AAPG member search.
♦ Monthly preview service registration -- Anyone (including non-members) can request a free monthly e-mail notification when AAPG BULLETIN articles are posted on the "Current …" page and available for downloading. The e-mail offers readers a brief synopsis of each article, and also includes notification of other timely publication offers through the AAPG Bookstore and AAPG/Datapages.

This is AAPG/Datapages' first, entirely online electronic journal, linking ideas, data and technology. Articles already are posted, and more will be published.
This hot new site promises to offer rapid publication to articles dealing with a variety of topics of interest to the upstream industry.
One special feature will be an area where AAPG, SEG and SPE will join to sponsor articles about interdisciplinary exploration. Because we offer a less-formal publishing environment, we will seek to invite papers where the authors have an important story to tell, but who may not have the time to work it into a more formal publication.

"Best of Session" papers from recent conferences (rapid publication, and ideally suited for poster session submittals).

Classic research papers taken from major oil company archives.

Interdisciplinary exploration topics, where geologist, geophysicist, engineer and petrophysicist teams combine experience and technologies.

Technology papers in the "Geobyte" tradition (a computer/geology magazine formerly produced by AAPG).

Regional studies, including large data sets that cannot be published in print form because of space limitations.

Special formats papers, where animations, special data processing, etc. might play an important part of the paper presentation but which is not suited for print presentation.
