A new department has been formed in a reorganization of AAPG headquarters, with changes prompting a combining of a departmental directorate.

Donna Riggs has been named director of the AAPG Service Center, a newly organized sector covering three member service areas.

Formerly membership department manager, Riggs has been with the Association for 30 years, beginning her service with AAPG as secretary to the AAPG business manager.

Also, Vicki Beighle was named manager of Member Services, and Carol Waddel was named marketing and sales services manager.Michelle Mayfield was named leadership services manager, a new position that provides coordination/liaison within the AAPG organization and the Sections and affiliated, associated and sister societies.

Mayfield was formerly AAPG convention department director, having held that position for the past three of the 14 years she has been with AAPG.

The convention department directorate responsibilities have been assigned to Jack Gallagher, AAPG science director, who will be heading both departments.

Beighle joined AAPG in 1981 and has held several positions in the membership department. Waddell joined AAPG in 1997 and previously was publications marketing coordinator.

The revamped Service Center department will absorb the current membership department activities and student affairs. Additional responsibilities include an expansion of the marketing program, a "Call Center" and the new role of coordinator/liaison with the AAPG.

The Call Center is designed to provide one-stop assistance for members seeking a range of AAPG services, including publication sales. The Center is expected to be fully operational by mid-year.

"The organizational change is the outgrowth of discussions over the last months with a variety of stakeholders, designed to find new ways to provide service to our members," said AAPG executive director Lyle Baie.
