AAPG Executive Director Rick Fritz was interviewed on Monday (Oct. 23) on the premiere of Energy News Live, a real-time Internet newscast on a new Web site designed for decision makers in the energy industry.

ENL webcasts are broadcast live on the hour from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT each business day from the Energy News Live studio adjacent to the energy commodities trading floor at the Williams Companies headquarters in downtown Tulsa.

In addition to the Tulsa studio, ENL has satellite offices in New York, Houston and Washington, D.C., and has agreements with ABC News, the Associated Press and others to provide content.

The Web site is at http://www.energynewslive.com, and is owned and operated by Energy News Live LLC, a subsidiary of Williams.

In addition to the hourly newscasts, likened to the financial network CNNfn, the ENL Web site also features detailed weather forecasts, a Reuter's energy news feed, real-time stock quotes, archived news, customized reports and analytical tools for all the major energy commodity groups and links to energy trading sites.

In the interview on the inaugural broadcast, Fritz answered questions about why Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) should be opened for exploration, and about the environmental concerns that are top priorities for petroleum geologists.

He also told webcast viewers that the AAPG Division of Environmental Geosciences is continuing to provide information for petroleum geologists on environmental affairs, helping to make others aware of the efforts by the industry to improve exploration and production operations.
