A new publication that examines deals with the interest in and the importance of lacustrine environments of deposition has been released by AAPG.
"Lake Basins Through Space and Time," an AAPG Studies in Geology edited by Elizabeth Gierlowski-Kordesch and Kerry Kelts, contains 60 chapters that intend to show how a comprehensive understanding of lacustrine environments of deposition can help exploration strategies.
The book offers worldwide coverage, citing examples from North and South America, Africa, Europe and Asia.
Keen interest in lake basin geology began to build in the mid-1980s, when hydrocarbon potential was recognized that was sourced from lacustrine sediments in China, the south Atlantic margins and southeast Asia.
The book's lead paper is "Lake-Basin Type, Source Potential and Hydrocarbon Character: An Integrated Sequence-Stratigraphic-Geochemical Framework," written by Kevin Bohacs, Alan Carroll, John Neal and Paul Mankiewicz.
