Your chance to either sell or buy a prospect
just got better.
Both opportunities will be available Aug. 27-29 in
Houston at the inaugural AAPG Property and Prospect Exposition (APPEX),
a new event that will emphasize sales opportunities for both domestic
and international prospects.
APPEX, a cooperative effort involving AAPG, the Society
of Independent Professional Earth Sciences and the Houston Geological
Society will be held at the Houston Adams Mark Hotel.
Those who have deals to show are invited to exhibit
their offerings in the manner of the North American Prospect Expo,
held annually in the early part of the year by the American Association
of Petroleum Landmen.
The expo's goals are "to expose as many new geological
and geophysical prospects and ideas to the widest market possible,"
said APPEX general chairman Charles "Chuck" Noll.
Torch Energy/PLS, Houston, which formerly sponsored
a fall prospect exposition, has agreed to accept a marketing role
in APPEX, which will be held in lieu of the previous PLS Dealmakers
meeting.
Last fall, the Dealmakers meeting drew about 1,200
attendees and 135 booths. By comparison NAPE attracted over 8,000
attendees and over 1,000 booths at the 2001 meeting.
A pre-exhibition conference will be a part of APPEX,
which will include educational workshops. Topics for past workshops
include acquisitions and divestitures, exploration, sourcing capital,
Internet services, marketing and hedging.
The deadline for passes to the expo/conference, and
for reduced booth prices, is July 25.
