Do you know who your AAPG House of Delegates representatives are?

The answer is on the Web site.

Every affiliated society has one or more representatives based upon the number of members in their organization and everyone has representation on the issues of AAPG.

The delegate list also appears in printed format within the AAPG BULLETIN. However, the BULLETIN's print schedule sometimes makes the list out-of-date by the time it arrives in members' hands.

So would you like to know who that delegate is?

Let's start at the beginning: Go to the AAPG Web site at www.aapg.org. On the left of the menu you'll see a category titled "Leadership". Choose House of Delegates (Hod). Then click on "Who is My Delegate?". That's it. That's the beginning.

Following this to the House of Delegates home page you'll discover several features. Listed are the duties and responsibilities of the delegates as defined by the AAPG Constitution and Bylaws.

Handy links provided include:

  • A look inside AAPG, describing who it is, what it stands for and some of the programs AAPG makes available to members and the public.
  • A form through which questions and comments may be submitted.
  • A directory of delegates.
  • The House of Delegates newsletter, which includes committee reports and comments from delegate officers.
  • The Constitution and Bylaws.
  • The AAPG Code of Ethics.
  • Officers of the House.

Then there is the House of Delegates Forum -- a new addition to our site, developed to help facilitate business of the House. Only delegates may post to this area, so if you wish to make a comment or ask a question and are not a delegate you'll need to contact your delegate. That's where the list comes in handy.

The list of delegates provided has an automatic e-mail link to your representative.

Other forums on the AAPG Web site include a Public Forum, which facilitates questions, answers and comments appropriate to the industry, and the recently introduced Employment Forum, which is there for posting job opportunities, positions sought and career-focused questions.

The Public Forum is accessed through the bottom left-hand link on the home page. The Employment Forum can be found under "About AAPG" -- it's the Careers link.

Please keep these links handy for regular viewing. Who knows -- you may have the answer for someone!
