Included in this EXPLORER issue are biographies and statements of the candidates for AAPG treasurer for 2004-06.

Nominated candidates Kay L. Pitts and F. Pierce Pratt will be joined on the ballot by petition candidate Dwight M. "Clint" Moore (December 2003 EXPLORER).

Pitts and Pratt were approved as nominated candidates at the May 10, 2003, Executive Committee meeting, following the nominating procedures spelled out in the AAPG Bylaws.

The Bylaws also has provisions for petition candidates to enter a race by providing the signatures of 50 Active AAPG members. Moore provided the necessary number of signatures and joined the ballot by the October 15 deadline the Bylaws allow.

Previous statements and biographies of Pitts and Pratt appeared in the November 2003 EXPLORER.

Following the precedent set in the 2001-02 election, the Executive Committee, in its desire for fairness to all candidates, has made available the biographies, photos and statements of each of the treasurer candidates.

Nominated candidates will address the same question they addressed in the September EXPLORER: "Why I Accepted the Invitation to be a Candidate for AAPG Office."

Moore addresses the question, "Why I Decided to be a Petition Candidate for AAPG Office."

Both nominated candidates were given the opportunity to change their statement if they so desired, as ordinarily these statements are made without the candidates having seen the others' statements.

Candidates, who provided all information, were asked to limit their biography to 350 words and statements to 500 words.
