Planning to attend the AAPG Annual Meeting in Dallas? If so, an important deadline looms this month.

The preregistration deadline is March 17.

It's a meeting that promises something of interest and importance for all AAPG members.

The AAPG (with SEPM) Annual Meeting will be held April 18-21 at the Dallas Convention Center, with the Dallas Geological Society serving as hosts. The theme is "Embrace the Future — Celebrate the Past," and the technical program includes more than 400 oral presentations, 470 half-day poster presentations, 13 short courses and 10 field trips.

The technical program is organized around nine themes:

  • Petroleum Risk and Strategy.
  • Exploration and Exploitation.
  • Environmental Issues.
  • Advances and Applications in Technology.
  • Revitalizing Reservoirs.
  • Structure and Tectonics.
  • Sedimentary Geology.
  • Petroleum Systems, Geochemistry and Basin Modeling.
  • Education.

Included in the technical program this year are eight forums, covering a variety of subjects that include technical, historical, educational, exploration, business, governmental and scientific aspects of the profession and industry.

Also offered will be the hundreds of cutting-edge displays in the large exhibits hall, where the newest industry technology and information — as well as the International Pavilion — will be available daily.

And the program includes a variety of outstanding speakers for the meeting's various luncheon events, including All-Convention Luncheon speaker Amy Myers Jaffe, renowned oil specialist and Wallace Wilson Fellow for Energy Studies at the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy, who will discuss OPEC's future role in the evolving oil industry.

Other specifics, including details on the many field trips and short courses, are included in the official convention announcement and also can be found on the AAPG Web site.

All registrations, including hotel reservations, can be made online.
