It’s not too late to get into the running.
It’s not too late to get into the running. The
AAPG Member Recruiting Contest is ending on May 30, but there is
still time for you and your society to have an impact.
All applications will be counted right up to the deadline — and
then one of you will be going to the AAPG
International Meeting in Cancun, and three societies and three
International Regions will earn cash awards for their efforts.
At deadline, 287 applications have been received from all six regions
and 45 societies. The top recruiter at this time is Bruce Falkenstein,
a member of the Houston Geological Society.

It is definitely not too late to benefit your society’s chance
at the money — or for you to win the trip to Cancun. The contest
is wide open. A member recruited by you will automatically give
a point to your society.
"In order to foresee a healthy future for AAPG, we (the members)
must take action now." said Dan Smith, chairman of the Membership
Enhancement and Development Committee.
"If you do not belong to your local affiliated society, you
are missing a great opportunity to give back to your profession,"
he added, "and the same is especially true for membership in
the AAPG."
You can locate the local
society in your area — and ways to contact them — from our
