When I receive them I make every attempt to attend. As your president I will be invited to represent the Association at a wide variety of gatherings connected to the energy industry. Usually there are speaking opportunities or requirements.

Over the last several months I've addressed the question of oil and gas prices on "talk radio," written articles for "sister" and "cousin" societies, attended and addressed conventions, etc.

Because of scheduling conflicts I sometimes call upon other members of the Executive Committee to fill in for me. So as you read this, AAPG Vice President Neil Hurley will have just represented the Association in Asia.

While I attended the AAPG Foundation Trustee Associates meeting, Neil was the chief guest and delivered the inaugural address at the Association of Petroleum Geologists conference in Khajuraho, India. We appreciate our affiliated society, APG India, and the hospitality they extended to us. Neil is also using the travel opportunity to visit other AAPG connections in Southeast Asia.

Also, while I am addressing another group, Dr. Hurley will represent the Association leadership by participating in the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists' first West Africa deepwater regional conference in Abuja in mid-November. Many thanks to NAPE for this invitation.

In between, we hope to meet many of you in Columbus (Eastern Section meeting), San Antonio (Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies) and/or Cancun!

The Executive Committee is grateful for invitations near and far because it provides an opportunity to demonstrate the connectiveness of AAPG. It is my intent to directly, or indirectly, respond to every invitation. Directly means I go. Indirectly means another senior member of AAPG's elected leadership goes.

Let us hear from you — have PowerPoint, will travel!
