The Universal Viewer
Today, most workflows revolve around data capture and visualization. Currently, visualizing digital data has become the norm not the exception. More and more each day companies are digitizing all their paper data to get the most out of their investments. In 2000, we released our NeuraView software, which will open and view many different industry standard formats (TIF/ TIFF, JPG, BMP, PDF, PDS, LAS, CGM, and EMF). With this capability, it enables our users to view almost any file type they will come across for well logs in a single viewer.
Archiving hard work and viewing recorded data is ultimately part of any evaluation process. Technical professionals are required to obtain this data from any and all sources and determine what information is best to use. NeuraView works directly with the NeuraScanner to help users archive this data for later evaluation. Whether you’re scanning old paper data and viewing it or importing digital data to use it, NeuraView helps in many different ways.
Customization is the Nexus Point
Users may have different segments of data from multiple sources and need to literally piece that information together. NeuraView provides a stitch tool allowing geoscientists to combine both new data and old data to create new information. An example of this would be using a PDS, PDF and LAS file together and stitch them to create one type log for an area. In some cases, old maps or seismic images were scanned in multiple pieces; our stitch tool in NeuraView can recreate a single seamless map or seismic line image. Users can change curve values, color styles and use color fill functions on LAS files, annotation tools and export this information as TIF/ TIFF, JPG and PDF file formats, as well as, save LAS template information for future viewing. Neuralog designs software to aid with workflows to help all our users find the ‘Nexus Point’ in their projects.
The answer to the future of software is through Customization, which includes workflows and the user interface. Neuralog is committed to this goal and has included functionality in their latest products to reflect this. In the new ribbon interface, users can add their own custom named ribbon tabs, add specific functions to groups and create a “workflow tab” to get specific tasks accomplished without having to write them down in a journal. Log printing is easy with NeuraView with a ‘shrink width to fit’ feature, which allows you to present your log on any desired width media without altering the vertical scale.
Piecing it together
NeuraView is included in Neuralog Desktop as the native viewer. With Neuralog Desktop and its custom ASCII and Excel importer, creation of new custom datasets, tables or document types can be realized in a database. Files can be associated in multiple databases across other software packages, organized or unorganized file folders, out on a server (structured or unstructured), and/or in numerous applications. Linking documents (e.g. legacy 2D seismic lines, theses and state reports) directly to shapefiles is spatially very convenient. Users can simply expose the classification type and open any of the stored data, which will invoke the native handler for that document type.
