At Aramco, The Geosciences are What We Do

At Aramco, geology has been central to what we do since 1938, when we first struck oil.

Every year since then, the company has invested in new technology and our most important resource – human capital – to expand our capabilities and potential.

The scale of our activities has long appealed to the brightest minds in the geosciences. From working on the largest reservoirs in the world to studying the characteristics of different sands, our geoscientists have opportunities to work on a wide range of projects.

For our geoscientists, we recently installed a new supercomputer, one of the ten most powerful on earth, at company headquarters. It has 55.4 petaflops of peak computing power, allowing geoscientists to process and interpret the world’s largest and most challenging geophysical datasets. This is part of a digital transformation strategy that provides professionals with tools like artificial intelligence and robotics to advance projects.

We currently have numerous career opportunities in the geosciences – from exploration and production to research. In addition to solving day-to-day challenges in our upstream program, geoscientists carry out groundbreaking research with leading scientists, work on multidisciplinary teams, and participate in some of the world’s most exciting energy projects.

We are looking for petrographers, experts in unconventionals, and development geologists.

We are also hiring people to conduct pioneering studies, introduce state-of-the-art technologies and provide specialized evaluations for hydrogen and ammonia production, with associated carbon sequestration, to support the world’s de-carbonization efforts.

As part of our commitment to sustainability and a circular carbon economy we are advancing mobile carbon capture for transportation, new engines and fuels to sharply reduce emissions and boost fuel efficiency, and making continuous operational improvements that have already reduced our upstream carbon intensity to the lowest level of any major producer.

Aramco’s global footprint means our pursuit of breakthroughs never stops and our collaborative environment offers opportunities to learn from colleagues worldwide.

At Aramco, the geosciences are at the heart of what we do.
