Hackbarth will serve on the new Executive Committee as president-elect for the 2022-23 term and will then serve as the Association’s president in 2023-24.

Also elected to the incoming Executive Committee were:

  • Vice President-Sections (2022-24) – Rebecca Dodge, Emeritus and adjunct associate professor, Midwestern State University, Midland, Texas.
  • Treasurer (2022-24) – J. Alexandra “Ali” Sloan, senior project geoscientist, Centennial Resource Development, Denver.
  • Editor (2022-25) – Matthew Pranter, the Victor E. Monnett Endowed Chair in Energy Resources and professor of geosciences, University of Oklahoma, Norman, Okla.

All will begin their duties on July 1.

Both Dodge and Sloan will serve two-year terms and, like Hackbarth, will begin their leadership on an executive committee headed by Steven Goolsby, who assumes the AAPG presidency on that date.

Pranter will be beginning a three-year term as editor on that date.

All will be joining continuing EC members Elvira Pureza Gomez Hernandez, who continues her two-year term as vice president-Regions, and Jonathan Allen, who continues his two-year term as secretary.

Also joining the committee is Justin Vandenbrink, as chair of the AAPG House of Delegates.

Special thanks to candidates Richard Ball, Julian Chenin, Juan Pablo Lovecchio and John Breyer for their dedication and commitment to AAPG and their willingness to serve in leadership roles. The Association and its members owe each of them a debt of gratitude.

Voting results show that just over 19 percent of AAPG’s 10,637 eligible voters cast ballots in this year’s election, with all but 43 votes cast online.
