John N. Casiano, a San Antonio-based independent who has been active in Association leadership and activities over the past several years, has been voted president-elect of AAPG for the 2025-26 term.

He is one of four new officers chosen in this year’s AAPG election, which closed on May 15.

Casiano will serve on the new Executive Committee as president-elect for the coming term and will then serve as the Association’s president in 2026-27.

Also elected to the incoming Executive Committee were:

  • Vice President-Regions (2025-27) – Maria Mutti, professor and chair of Sedimentology and Sedimentary Geology at the University of Potsdam, Potsdam, Germany.
  • Secretary (2025-27) – Andrea Reynolds, consultant, Houston.
  • Editor (2025-28) – Daniel Minisini, geologist ExxonMobil, Houston.

All will begin their duties on July 1, on an Executive Committee headed by Brian Horn, who assumes the AAPG presidency on that date.

They will be joining continuing EC members Lorena Moscardelli, Austin, Texas, who starts the second year of her two-year term as vice president-Sections, and Rebecca Caldwell, Houston, continuing her two-year term as treasurer.

Also joining the committee for 2025-26 will be David Hawk, Boise, Idaho, as chair of the AAPG House of Delegates.

Current AAPG President Deborah Sacrey offered special thanks to candidates Elvira Gomez Hernandez, Dwandari Ralanarko, Julie Bloxson and Julia Gale for their dedication and commitment to AAPG and their willingness to serve in leadership roles. “The Association and its members owe each of them a debt of gratitude,” Sacrey said.

Voting results show that just over 20 percent of AAPG’s 8,495 eligible voters cast ballots in this year’s election.
