AAPG offers a special benefit for members who are 65 years of age or older and have 30 or more years of cumulative membership: You can request to be reclassified as an Emeritus Member.

Benefits of Emeritus status, in addition to the recognition for your longevity within AAPG, include:

  • Your annual membership dues are reduced by 50 percent.
  • You save 50 percent on the Annual Convention and Exhibition and International Conference and Exhibition meeting registration fees, both for yourself and your spouse/guest.
  • For those who are certified in any specialty within the Division of Professional Affairs, certification dues also will be reduced by 50 percent (maximum of one specialty reduction allowed).

Please note, this reclassification doesn’t automatically occur – in accordance with Association bylaws, members must request this change.

Joined AAPG in 1983 while in Michigan as District Superintendent for Amoco Production Company. My degree was in Geology from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute at Ruston Louisiana. Most of career was in engineering work vs geology. From Logging engineer for McCullough Tool Company in Tyler, Tx to Engineering Professional Assistant in Tyler for Pan American Petroleum to Amoco Production Company Field Foreman in Monroe Louisiana, to District Foreman in Traverse City Michigan to District Superintendent in Traverse City Michigan to Regional Drilling Superintendent in Denver Colorado to Region Environmental, Safety and Regulatory Affairs in Houston to retirement in 1999 as the Houston Region Regulatory Affairs Manager. Emeritus Status
I know I'm over 65 (73 in Oct) just not sure how many AAPG years I have. Definitely have over 30 years in the industry. Am I Emeritus "worthy"? Thank you, Roy Long
