The Environmental Geosciences Journal Becomes Part of the AAPG Bulletin
AAPG has a long history as a
proactive organization focused on
advancing geology, especially as it
relates to petroleum, natural gas, other
subsurface fluids and mineral resources.
As part of this focus, AAPG supports
the vital role that AAPG geoscientists
play in improving the human condition
while minimizing environmental impacts
as our members tackle the energy
transition’s immense challenges. To this
end, future issues of the Environmental
Geosciences journal are becoming part
of the AAPG Bulletin.

Commencing in 2021, future issues
of the AAPG Division
of Environmental
Geoscience’s
publication in the
Environmental
Geosciences journal
will become part of
the AAPG Bulletin.
This move aims to
strengthen AAPG and
DEG’s focus on the
principles of conservation, efficiency and
sustainable development.
The publication Environmental
Geosciences, founded in 1994, promotes
environmental
stewardship
from a geological
perspective,
transferring the
profession’s
understanding
of geological,
geochemical,
geophysical and
hydrogeological
principles and methodologies toward
addressing environmental problems. The
DEG editor will prepare a yearly special
issue of the AAPG Bulletin dedicated to
environmental geosciences. The AAPG
editor and the DEG editor will collaborate
on publishing additional articles in
the AAPG Bulletin. The DEG editor will
continue to be responsible for reviews
and manuscript acceptance.
This publication consolidation aims to
strengthen AAPG’s mission to promote
the technology of exploring for, finding,
and producing sources of energy and
mineral resources in an economically
and environmentally sound manner
that are fundamental to sustainable
development.
